Dear Male members of the Class of 2017,

As many of you are aware, Men's Fraternity Rush begins this Friday, September 26 from 7-9 pm. The second round of Men's Fraternity Rush occurs Saturday, September 27 from 7-9 pm. There is an optional third night of rush on Sunday night from 7-9 pm. Optional means that some houses may opt not to be open on this third night of Rush.

There are a few details of Fraternity Rush that are crucial to the process. First and foremost, the IFC encourages all members of the Class of 2017 to visit at least four houses of potential interest during the 7-9 pm block on Friday (or the 7-9 pm block on Saturday for those that cannot make Rush on Friday). However, at 9 pm on Friday and Saturday, Fraternity Houses will begin the shakeout process, where brothers line up and shake the hand of members expressing their primary interest. From a Fraternity perspective, the shakeout process represents a potential member's indication of their top choice and intention to accept a bid should that Fraternity extend them one.

Additionally, Rush is traditionally a formal event including formal attire. Although coat and tie is encouraged, no prejudices will exist towards those potential members not wearing coat and tie.

Finally, intoxication of any kind will not be tolerated. The IFC expects 100% sobriety of Fraternities and potential members while Rush is occurring.

Tomorrow (Monday), the IFC will be hosting a pre-rush information session from 2-4 pm in Collis 101 to answer any questions about rush or fraternity life in general.  Please feel free to stop by and listen to current members of the Dartmouth Inter-Fraternity Council.

If you have any additional questions, please direct them towards [log in to unmask] or the IFC Rush Chair, Corbin Stall '15.

Sincerely,

The IFC
