Come hear four panelists discuss the scope of students’ constitutional rights on college campuses!

College campuses often seem to operate in a different sphere from the rest of society. Especially on an isolated campus like Dartmouth’s, students reference the perceived “Dartmouth bubble” that insulates the university community from outside society. However, do college students also operate within a different legal sphere? With the backdrop of how students’ constitutional rights differ on college campuses, this Thursday’s panel will address complex issues such as free speech rights, the balance between due process and the need to investigate misconduct, and digital privacy. The panel will also discuss the interplay between criminal prosecution and private discipline in private educational institutions, and how the constitutional right against unreasonable searches and seizures applies on private university campuses.

4:30 – 5:30 in Rocky 003 on Thursday, July 17th!
Followed by a PoliTalk dinner with the panelists (for students only, free dinner!) at 5:45
