Professor Fairbrothers has founded multiple companies since retiring from the Oil and Gas industry in 1999. 

He was also the founding director of the Dartmouth Entrepreneurial Network and the founding chair of the Dartmouth Regional Technology Center. Professor Fairbrothers teaches the electives Introduction to Entrepreneurship and Advanced Entrepreneurship.
