4) Literacy in the Upper Valley
Passionate about childhood literacy? Want to get involved in a student-run non-profit that is
focused on improving childhood literacy in the lower income areas of the Upper Valley of NH/VT?
Literacy in the Upper Valley (LUV) was founded in April 2013 by several Tuck and Dartmouth students
with the mission of 1) igniting interest and curiosity in reading among children and 2) providing access to books to those children. The organization collected over 500 books as well as financial donations and in May 2013 held its first two events at which
student volunteers read with children 1-on-1. The children were able to take some of the books home with them after the events.
LUV is looking for people to sign up as members of the management team for this non-profit and/or
as volunteers for the reading events. For more information and/or to get involved, please reach out to Eric Winn (Tuck’14 / D’04) at[log in to unmask] or
Stacia Burd at the Tucker Foundation at [log in to unmask].
