Porter Foundation Symposium: “Dartmouth and Haiti at the Crossroads” February 20-22, 2013 What contributions can Dartmouth and other academic institutions make towards development in Haiti? How do such activities fit within the educational goals of a college such as Dartmouth? Can improving life in Haiti be a unifying and interdisciplinary educational theme that deepens students’ global engagement? These are questions that have placed Dartmouth and other academic institutions at the crossroads of their involvement in Haiti. Interdisciplinary working groups, comprised of leaders from the Haitian government, NGOs, and US and Canadian academic institutions, will meet in Hanover to develop detailed plans to move forward a single project in each of the three areas of Education, Economic Development, and Health Care in Haiti. Below are a list of public panel discussions and events that celebrate the culture of Haiti and explore the ways in which academic institutions, like Dartmouth, can contribute to the rebuilding of Haiti. We hope to see you there. Questions?
