Yves Muya is Congolese and used to work with the well-known NGO Falling Whistles.  He formerly traveled with Falling Whistles and shared his story about being a refugee and getting to America, in support of Falling Whistles' mission in Congo.  Now, his narrative is more about his identity and how it was impacted by working with a Western organization.  He can speak to a Congolese experience of war and NGO projects.  Because of his perspective, we hope that his talk will stimulate discussion about the role of Western NGOs in non-Western conflict resolution, as well as the methods of representation employed by such NGOs in raising funds and awareness about their cause.  Throughout history, our Western image of Africa has been shaped by Westerners, and reified by Africans themselves.  Yves can offer a fascinating personal narrative of how this reification has taken place on an individual level. You can learn more about him here: http://yvesmuya.com/about.html
