(fall, winter and spring) *** Application deadline- Wed., May 18 *** ~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~ ABOUT I-CC: * Founded in 2004, I-CC facilitates effective communication among diverse campus communities. * The I-CC is made up of selected students who serve as liaisons to the following communities- Women, Men, International, Black/African American, Latina/o, Pan Asian, Native American, LGBT, Multi-faith, Greek letter, Accessibility, Environmental Justice, Socioeconomic Class. * The I-CC provides a space for these communities to identify and share ideas, goals, needs & concerns. * The I-CC advocates for the interests of traditionally under-represented groups at Dartmouth to the administration, the alumni and other outside groups in order to help ensure that the Dartmouth community remains a healthy, nurturing environment for all students. ~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~ JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: * Facilitate weekly I-CC meetings * Provide structure in implementing the established I-CC goals and objectives * Provide mentoring and advice to community liaisons * Act as a student liaison with administration * Assist in organizing events and programs that help increase the understanding of I-CC communities * Maintain the I-CC blitz bulletin and account * Assist in developing webpage ~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~ JOB REQUIREMENTS: * Basic knowledge of issues related to the different communities * Strong communication skills * Organization skills * Ability to demonstrate ethical leadership (able to put aside personal motivations) * Creative & strategic problem-solving skills * Ability to compile information/synthesize many opinions * Diplomacy * Strong commitment to network with diverse groups * Programming and leadership experience a plus ** Previous experience with I-CC encouraged but not required. *** Must be on campus for all three terms! ~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~ ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: * The I-CC Chairs will report to Nora Yasumura, Office of Pluralism and Leadership (OPAL) * I-CC chairs will each receive a termly stipend of $375 (for an estimated 5 hours per week of work). * Most work hours are flexible. * Must meet with Advisor weekly. * Must attend I-CC weekly meetings. * Students from all racial and cultural backgrounds are encouraged to apply. * Student interns must remain in good academic standing and taking no more than 3 courses per term. ~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~ INTERESTED IN APPLYING? * Send resume * Three names of on-campus references (at least two must be a faculty or staff) * A brief statement describing why you would like to be selected, what you see the role of the I-CC chair to be, what would you like to see I-CC work on in the future, and what skills and insights you will bring to this position. * Send a list of activities (including thesis, extracurricular, other jobs) or responsibilities you plan on doing next year. * Email all information to "Nora Y" * Apply by Wednesday, May 18 ** Contact Nora Yasumura (OPAL), Angelo Carino '11 or Maya Granit '11(current I-CC Chairs) with any questions.
