COORDINATOR, FOREIGN LANGUAGE INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNOLOGY

The Language Center in the College of Arts and Humanities invites applicants 
for a full-time, 12-month associate staff position to provide technological 
leadership and support for foreign and second language faculty and students.  
The position is available immediately.

The Coordinator provides leadership in the use of new technologies for language 
learning.  This includes assisting faculty in the use and integration of 
digital technology in language instruction and managing the administrative 
operations of Language Media Services and the AT&T Foreign Language electronic 
classroom. Duties include budget and strategic planning, supervising staff 
(Electronics Technician, student workers, and graduate assistants), and 
maintaining facilities and equipment.  The Coordinator is also responsible for 
creating and implementing policy for the efficient and legal use of all 
instructional equipment and digital materials available for language faculty, 
TAs, and students. 

Required qualifications:
$B7 Bachelor's degree. 
$B7 3-5 years of experience in foreign language instructional technology.
$B7 Ability to work with a wide range of users (novice to advanced).
$B7 Experience organizational, interpersonal, planning, and written and oral 
  communication skills.
$B7 Experience in integrating instructional technologies into the language curriculum.
$B7 Experience with Windows and Macintosh platforms.
$B7 Experience with one or more markup languages (i.e. HTML).
$B7 Knowledge of one or more languages other than English.  
$B7 Teaching/instructional experience.

Desirable characteristics:
$B7 M.A. in language acquisition, a foreign language, educational technology, or 
  a related field preferred.  
$B7 Experience with networked environments, web course tools, scripting 
  languages, and development tools highly desirable.   
$B7 Comfort with authoring programs/systems/languages (i.e. 
  Libra/Authorware/Visual Basic) and the Unix environment a plus. 
$B7 Demonstrated contributions to the profession (i.e. conference presentations, 
  publications, materials development) ideal.
