David,

I've done this frequently with nary a problem.  In fact this is true given
different versions:  my Mac has the older Office 2.4.1 suite and the PC runs
Win95 w/ Office 97 software.  One caveat is that I rarely use clip art or
sound files with these applications, they are almost always text (with
templates, transitions, and "builds").
