Dear LLTIers:

I am writing to let you know about a job opening that should be posted here
in the next couple of days.  I am leaving my job as Director of the Language
Resource Center at UNC Charlotte to take the new Foreign Language Technology
Specialist position at Duke University, and a search is underway for my
replacement.  The UNCC position will be available beginning January 2000.

You can read the details of the job in the ad, but I wanted to report that I
have been successful in getting the hiring salary range raised from its
planned $25K - $30K to $33K - $38K, thanks in great part to data gathered
from LLTI and letters from key IALLers.  I'd like to thank Read Gilgen,
David Pankratz, Chris Higgins and Rachel Saury for their input, which I
believe was crucial in convincing a skeptical dean that an increase was
warranted.  (I gathered a lot of data & information for this, which I'll
share in an upcoming posting to the list).
