St. Lawrence University
Modern Languages Instructional Technology Specialist

St. Lawrence University seeks a Modern Languages Instructional Technology
Specialist to provide technological leadership, support, and facilities
management for the
Department of Modern Languages and Literatures.  The position will begin on
August 1, 2000.

Reporting both to the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures and the
Information Technology Division, the successful candidate will exhibit a
broad
range of technological skills and a solid grasp of technology-based language
pedagogy.  In addition to supporting language instruction, the Instructional
Technology Specialist for Modern Languages will have a role in campus-wide
technology support and planning.

Desirable qualifications for this position include the following:
*  A degree in language acquisition, a foreign language, educational
technology or
a related field.
*  Background in one of the languages taught at St. Lawrence (French,
German,
Japanese, Kiswahili, Russian, Spanish).
*  Experience in integrating instructional technologies into the foreign
language
curriculum and in supporting technology-based instruction in higher
education
*  Experience in installing and maintaining computer and multimedia hardware
*  Experience in designing, building, and maintaining web sites
*  Ability to manage student staff

The successful candidate will also provide evidence of excellent
communication,
leadership and teamwork skills.

deploys a variety of electronic systems for teaching and learning, including
