What is your budget?  Unfortunately the price right now is high.  The best
system for subtitling on DVD I have seen is from Spruce Technologies.  We
used their software on the soon-to-be-released "C'eravamo tanto amati" movie
title for language learning.  It is powerful but not cheap.  We were able to
work offline for the scripting and development of various types of subtitles
and then import the subtitles into the system.

I am looking for information on two projects:
1. Software and hardware necessary to put student-produced subtitles onto
Video clips
2.Software and hardware necessary to produce  own sound tracks and
editing them into digitized video/DVD
sections - then burning own DVD for presentation?

I would appreciate any recommendations or 'experience reports' either
