As Jose mentions, there was at least one discussion last spring on
this question. One thing that I was looking for and am still looking
for is a boombox with a tape counter. To my knowledge, nobody knew of
any "consumer grade"  boomboxes, i.e., CD/cassette players under $150,
that have a tape counter. I'm still looking!

Hi Ursula,

I had good luck with the EIKI portable cassette players over the
years at
Kansai Gaidai Hawaii College.  I found them to be economical and very
sturdy
for daily use.  The weakness is the tape compartment cover spring,
and the
advantage is multiple outlets for headsets.  I believe there is an
archive of
past discussions regarding *boom boxes* and associated advantages
and
disadvantages.  Check the LLTI topics from last Spring.
