             The ACTFL/FDP-Houghton Mifflin Awards
for Excellence in Foreign Language Instruction Using Technology
                           with IALL

These Awards are presented annually to recognize excellence in the
integration and use of technology in foreign language instruction at the
post-secondary level.  These awards are the outgrowth of collaboration
between ACTFL and the Faculty Development Programs of Houghton Mifflin
Company, with the International Association for Language Learning
Technology (IALL). A two-year and a four-year college instructor will be
recognized.  The awards will be presented at ACTFL '99 in Dallas.

These awards are supported generously through the Houghton Mifflin
Company.  The recipients each receive a $500 cash award provided by the
Houghton Mifflin Company.

Selection Criteria -

1. Two awards for foreign language educator: one at the two-year/community
college level; and one from the four-year/college/university level.

2. The recip[ients must have been members of ACTFL for at least three
years.

3. The recipients must have at least five year's teaching experience.

4. The recipients must submit evidence of how they have integrated the use
of technology into their foreign language courses.
