------------------
I have found a wonderfully clear and comprehensive site for helping w/ VCR
repairs.
Bruce Meehl, at www.fixer.com, shows how to service all types of vcrs
without any knowledge of electronics at all. (Except, I assume, the
knowledge of which parts to avoid even after the vcr is unplugged.)
He demonstrates how the average person can use a few simple hand tools to
do 90% of the repairs vcrs normally need (I was surprised not to see my
favorite "simple hand tool" for repairing vcrs - a hammer - not included.)
The site includes an "unbelievably comprehensive" database.
I've just skimmed the surface so far, but it looks pretty good.
Cheers,
Ed
