PENN STATE.  Languages and Literatures.

Associate Director for Instructional Technology, Language Acquisition
Center, The Pennsylvania State University.   4-year full-time, fixed-term
appointment as Senior Lecturer, with benefits, starting August 1999.
Possibility of renewal.  Responsibilities include:  work with academic
departments to implement technology in language teaching, for both resident
instruction and distance learning; write grant proposals for the
development and assessment of technology in language teaching and in second
language acquisition research; teach a course, offered in one or more of
the language departments, on technology in language instruction, and
conduct workshops on that topic.  Requirements: Ph.D. in applied
linguistics or related field; knowledge of the role of technology in
language learning and teaching, language teaching methodologies, and second
language acquisition research; high level of communicative ability in
written and spoken English and at least one other language; foreign/second
language teaching experience; ability to work collaboratively with
colleagues of diverse backgrounds, interests, and levels of technology
expertise.  The Associate Director for Instructional Technology reports to
the Director of the Center.   Salary competitive. Send letter of
