The mud flats at the Jacob's Brook outflow, just north of the Orford Post Office and best viewed from an access at Trinity Farm, are even more exposed today than yesterday, meaning that the water level on the CT River has receded some more. However, as of 8-8:30 this morning, wader activity was slower than yesterday. I saw only 3 Least Sandpipers, 1 Semipalmated Sandpiper, a Greater Yellowlegs, and a Spotted Sandpiper. There was also 1 Great Blue Heron present. It could be, however, that birds are spread out across the extensively exposed flats, some of which are out-of-view from the observation spot. Refer to Jeff McQueen's post yesterday that gives directions on how to access the best viewing.
