This is New Hampshire Audubon's Rare Bird Alert for Monday, June 11th, 2018.



A MISSISSIPPI KITE was photographed in Langdon on June 8th but has not been 
relocated, at least 1 continues to be seen along Madbury Road near the town 
library in Durham and was last reported on June 10th, and 1 was seen from 
Sandy Point Road in Stratham on June 7th.



2 BLACK VULTURES were reported from Exeter on June 9th and 1 was reported 
from Nashua on the 7th.



A SANDHILL CRANE was seen in Durham on June 10th.



An AMERICAN OYSTERCATCHER was seen at the Isles of Shoals on June 9th.



A RED-THROATED LOON was seen along the coast in Rye on June 7th.



A RUDDY DUCK was seen at the Rochester Wastewater Treatment Plan on June 
6th, and was last reported from there on the 9th. The treatment plant is 
gated and the hours of operation are 7:30-3:00 on weekdays. If you visit, 
please check in at the office and be out of the plant by 2:45 so that plant 
personnel do not have to ask birders to leave. Do not drive on the dikes and 
do not block the road. The Trails at Pickering Ponds, located east of the 
plant, are not gated, and are always open during daylight hours.



A GREAT EGRET was seen at Peverly Meadow in Canterbury on June 7th and 8th.



7 RED CROSSBILLS were reported from Belknap Mountain in Gilford on June 
11th, 3 were reported from Bradford Bog on June 5th, and 2 were reported 
from Twin Mountain on the 9th.



A pair of EVENING GROSBEAKS was seen in Wilton on June 10th.



3 GRASSHOPPER SPARROWS were reported from the Concord Airport on June 7th.



2 FOX SPARROWS were reported from Cannon Mountain in the White Mountains on 
June 8th.



2 NELSON'S SPARROWS were reported from near the end of Pollack Drive in Rye, 
a SALTMARSH SPARROW was reported from Hampton Marsh, and a SALTMARSH SPARROW 
was seen at Luubberland Creek in Newmarket, all on June 9th.



A hiker on the Jefferson Notch Road and Caps Ridge Trail reported 2 CAPE MAY 
WARBLERS, a BAY-BREASTED WARBLER, 2 BOREAL CHICKADEES, 8 RED CROSSBILLS, a 
WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILL, a BICKNELL’S THRUSH, and a FOX SPARROW, all on June 
9th. Jefferson Notch Road is currently closed to motorized vehicles.



An OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHER was reported from Turkey Pond in Concord, and 2 
were seen at the Pondicherry National Wildlife Refuge in Jefferson, all on 
June 8th,



An OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHER and a WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILL were reported from 
Trudeau Road in Bethlehem on June 9th.



A BLACK-BACKED WOODPECKER was reported from Little Cherry Pond at the 
Pondicherry National Wildlife Refuge, and 1 was seen in wetlands near 
Deception Brook on Old Cherry Mountain Road, both in Jefferson on June 9th.



2 COMMON NIGHTHAWKS were seen at the Steeplegate Mall in Concord on June 
6th, and 1 was seen at Chenell Drive in Concord on the 8th.



A NORTHERN GOSHAWK was seen at The Nature Conservancy’s Ossipee Pine Barrens 
property on June 9th.



12 PURPLE MARTINS were seen along the coast on June 11th.



Birders visiting Star Island in the Isles of Shoals on June 9th reported: a 
GREAT CORMORANT, 6 BLACK GUILLEMOTS, an EASTERN WOOD-PEWEE, an AMERICAN 
REDSTART, a MAGNOLIA WARBLER, a BLACKPOLL WARBLER, a WILSON'S WARBLER, and a 
LINCOLN'S SPARROW.
