This is New Hampshire Audubon's Rare Bird Alert for Monday, March 26th,
2018.
A PACIFIC LOON was reported from the Squamscott River in Stratham, and 1 was
seen on the coast from Bicentennial Park in Hampton, both on March 25th.
A SNOWY OWL was seen at Rye Harbor State Park, and 1 was seen at Pulpit
Rocks in Rye, both on March 24th. A SNOWY OWL was reported from coastal
Seabrook on March 20th.
A BLACK VULTURE and a PEREGRINE FALCON were seen at Fall Mountain in Walpole
on March 23rd.
A GLAUCOUS GULL was seen at the Seabrook side of Hampton Harbor on March
24th and 25th.
2 EURASIAN WIGEONS were seen on Great Bay from the Great Bay Discovery
Center in Greenland on March 23rd, and 1 was reported from there again on
the 25th.
A male BARROW’S GOLDENEYE was seen on the Pemigewasset River in Franklin on
March 24th, and 1 was seen on the Connecticut River in Hinsdale on the 23rd.
4 REDHEADS were seen at the Hillsdale Setbacks on the Connecticut River on
March 24th, and 1 was seen at World End Pond in Salem on the 21st.
A LESSER SCAUP was seen on the Connecticut River in Charlestown on March
24th, and 1 was seen on Lake Winnisquam South on the 26th. A GADWALL was
reported from Eel Pond in Rye on the 21st.
A few RED CROSSBILLS were reported from Lempster, Bethlehem, Jefferson,
Ashland and Barnstead all during the past week.
A BLACK-BACKED WOODPECKER was seen near Little Cherry Pond at the
Pondicherry National Wildlife Refuge in Jefferson on March 20th.
2 OSPREY were seen along the Connecticut River in West Chesterfield on March
23rd. A MERLIN was seen in Lebanon on March 21st, and 3 MERLINS were
reported from the Lakes Region on the 26th.
A few FISH CROWS were reported from Manchester, Durham and the coast during
the past week.
An EASTERN TOWHEE was reported from Moultonborough on March 20th, a HERMIT
THRUSH was seen in Newington on the 24th, and a YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER was
reported from Lincoln on the 22nd.
