I spent about an hour late morning scanning the runway area, especially the south end. No sign of the owl. However, while I was just starting to head back from the far south end of the runway, I briefly spotted a large, very pale, heavy-bodied raptor-like bird with a dihedral at the opposite end of the main runway soaring on the brisk wind in the direction of the east end of the east-west runway. It quickly disappeared behind the hill. I rushed over to the parking area by the executive terminal and scanned down the east end of the runway to no avail. I suspect, but can not say definitively alas, that the bird I saw was the owl.
