This is New Hampshire Audubon's Rare Bird Alert for Monday, October 3rd, 
2016.



A EURASIAN WIGEON was seen in the southeast part of Great Bay on September 
23rd, and again on the 28th.



A BLACK VULTURE was seen in Nashua on September 29th.



3 CORY’S SHEARWATERS, 8 LAUGHING GULLS, and 2 RED-THROATED LOONS were seen 
along the coast on September 28th.



A NORTHERN FULMAR, a LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL, a RAZORBILL, and a WHIMBREL 
were seen along the coast on September 30th.



A COMMON TERN was seen in the southeast part of Great Bay on September 28th.



3 RED-NECKED PHALAROPES were seen at the pond located adjacent to the 
Steeplegate Mall in Concord, and 1 was seen at the Exeter Wastewater 
Treatment Plant, all on October 2nd.



An AMERICAN GOLDEN PLOVER was seen at the Pease International Tradeport in 
Portsmouth on September 28th.



3 NORTHERN SHOVELERS, 3 RUDDY DUCKS, and an AMERICAN WIGEON were seen at the 
Exeter Wastewater Treatment Plant on October 2nd.



4 BLACK SCOTERS were seen on Cherry Pond in Jefferson on October 2nd.



A RED-NECKED GREBE was seen on the Connecticut River near Hanover on 
September 28th.



A YELLOW-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON was seen in Hampton Marsh on October 3rd.



A LARK SPARROW was seen at the Concord Community Gardens located on Birch 
Street in Concord on September 28th and 29th.



A CLAY-COLORED SPARROW was seen at the Urban Forestry Center in Portsmouth 
on September 27th and 28th.



3 DICKCISSELS were reported from Great Bay Farm in Greenland on September 
28th, 1 was reported from the Concord Community Gardens on October 2nd, 1 
was seen at the Community School gardens on Bunker Hill Road in South 
Tamworth on October 1st, and 1 was heard vocalizing while flying over Meadow 
Pond in Hampton on September 30th.



There were several WHITE-CROWNED SPARROWS, LINCOLN’S SPARROWS, and VESPER 
SPARROWS reported from scattered locations during the past week.



2 WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILLS were reported from Pack Monadnock in Peterborough 
on September 28th.



An ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER and a PHILADELPHIA VIREO were seen at Pickering 
Ponds in Rochester on September 28th.



A CAPE MAY WARBLER was seen in Salem on September 28th.



Single BAY-BREASTED WARBLERS were reported from Webster, Hollis and New 
London during the past week,



Several TENNESSEE WARBLERS, BLACKPOLL WARBLERS, BLACKBURNIAN WARBLERS, 
BLACK-AND-WHITE WARBLERS, AMERICAN REDSTARTS, and YELLOW WARBLERS were seen 
migrating during the past week.



A PHILADELPHIA VIREO was seen in Rumney on September 29th.



A flock of 24 RUSTY BLACKBIRDS was seen at Bedell Bridge State Park in North 
Haverhill on October 1st.



There were several reports of late-migrating RUBY-THROATED HUMMINGBIRDS 
during the past week, with the latest on October 1st.



RAPTOR migration is under way with migrating raptors being counted daily at 
the Pack Monadnock Raptor Migration Observatory in Peterborough, including 
12,086 raptors tallied since September 1st, and at the Carter Hill 
Observatory in Concord, including 5,850 raptors counted since September 1st. 
Be sure to visit these New Hampshire Audubon staffed observatories this fall 
season to help out with the counts!
