Personal Note
My name is Greg Harkay, and as a Thayer '08 and former member of the Dartmouth Ski Team, I have found Environetix, as well as the town in which it is situated, to be a wonderful fit for me. The engineering challenges are diverse and stimulating, and with the company being relatively small, I have the opportunity to engage in a wide variety of tasks that push me to learn constantly and expand the boundaries of our current technology. Many of the qualities that drew me to Thayer are also evident at Environetix. My coworkers are extremely friendly, lending our office a relaxed, enjoyable, and productive atmosphere. The work is multifaceted, and employees are strongly encouraged to take ownership of their projects.

Of course, living in Maine isn't all about work! The environment here in Orono is highly conducive to outdoor pursuits with beautiful wooded trails for hiking, running, and mountain biking; low-traffic roads for cycling; a multitude of opportunities for paddling in rivers and lakes; and many groomed Nordic ski trails. Not to be left out is the amazing local resource that is Acadia National Park, which offers a gorgeous venue for all kinds of activities and sightseeing. The same can also be said for the nearby Baxter State Park, home of Mt Katahdin, the highest peak in Maine.

The town of Orono itself is also reminiscent of Hanover, NH. It is small but spirited and welcoming. And just a few miles down the road is Bangor, which boasts a much larger population, further shopping opportunities, and an international airport.

Just in case I haven't made it clear, Orono is a pretty great place to live, especially if big cities are not where one feels at home, and Environetix is a challenging, inspiring, and fun place to work. Please do consider applying for the position, as it would be fantastic to have another Thayer grad join our growing company!
