This is New Hampshire Audubon's Rare Bird Alert for Tuesday, September 8th, 
2015.



Up to 3 BAIRD’S SANDPIPERS were seen at Powder Mill Pond in Bennington in 
the section accessible from the boat launch located along Route 202 on 
September 3rd and 4th. Also reported were: 2 LESSER YELLOWLEGS, 9 GREATER 
YELLOWLEGS, 9 SEMIPALMATED PLOVERS, 15 LEAST SANDPIPERS, and 13 SOLITARY 
SANDPIPERS.



A STILT SANDPIPER was reported from Meadow Pond in Hampton on September 7th, 
and a WESTERN SANDPIPER was seen in Hampton Marsh on September 5th.



3 PECTORAL SANDPIPERS were seen at World End Pond in Salem on September 2nd. 
Also present were a SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPER, 20 LEAST SANDPIPERS, a SOLITARY 
SANDPIPER, 2 WILSON’S SNIPE, and a SORA.



An UPLAND SANDPIPER was reported from the Pease International Tradeport on 
September 5th.



3 juvenile YELLOW-CROWNED NIGHT-HERONS were reported from Hampton marsh near 
Island Path on September 5th.



4 AMERICAN BITTERNS were seen in a field along Trask Brook Road in Sunapee 
on September 2nd.



4 GADWALL were seen at the Exeter Wastewater Treatment Plant on September 
7th.



Migrating songbirds reported during the past week included: a CAPE MAY 
WARBLER and a TENNESSEE WARBLER in Sutton on September 3rd, a CAPE MAY 
WARBLER and a BAY-BREASTED WARBLER in Durham on the 1st, a BAY-BREASTED 
WARBLER and a WILSON’S WARBLER in Sunapee on the 1st, a TENNESSEE WARBLER 
and a PHILDELPHIA VIREO in Webster on the 1st, a BAY-BREASTED WARBLER and a 
BLACKPOLL WARBLER in Sutton on the 1st, an OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHER and 16 
PINE WARBLERS in Hancock on the 1st, and an OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHER and a 
TENNESSEE WARBLER in FREEDOM on August 31st.



2 MOURNING WARBLERS, 7 BAY-BREASTED WARBLERS, 3 CAPE MAY WARBLERS, 4 
TENNESSEE WARBLERS, and 7 GRAY JAYS were seen in Pittsburg on September 6th.



A BLACK-BACKED WOODPECKER was seen in the Trudeau Road trails in Bethlehem 
on September 2nd.



An EASTERN SCREECH-OWL was heard in Portsmouth on August 31st.



77 TURKEY VULTURES were tallied flying over the Keene area on September 4th.



Over 200 COMMON NIGHTHAWKS were counted migrating south in Concord on 
September 1st.



There was an unconfirmed report of a BLACK-HEADED GROSBEAK seen in 
Canterbury on August 30th.
