Today Ed Hack and I birded at three locations in Windsor, VT: 1) Lake
Runnemede and Paradise Park, 2) vicinity of the intersection of Hunt
and Marton Roads, and 3) prison farm on Marton Road.
At the prison farm, two Blue-winged Warblers were seen together, while
another unseen bird, also of the Blue-winged/Golden-winged complex,
was singing a "Blue-winged" song nearby. Another unseen bird of this
complex was earlier heard singing a "Blue-winged" song about a quarter
mile away. Thus, conservatively, there were at least 4 birds of the
Blue-winged/Golden-winged complex present in the mid day today at the
farm.
Birds of the Blue-winged/Golden-winged complex present special
problems in identification and naming as discussed in

Among recently arrived migrant species around Lake Runnemede/Paradise
Park today were Least and Great Crested Flycatchers, Eastern Kingbird,
Warbling Vireo, Wood Thrush, Gray Catbird, Nashville Warbler, Yellow
Warbler, Chestnut-sided Warbler, Black-throated Green Warbler,
American Redstart, Ovenbird, Northern Waterthrush, Common
Yellowthroat, and Baltimore Oriole. Also, among other birds at Lake
Runnemede, a House Wren was contesting with a pair of Tree Swallows
for control of one of the nest boxes. Two female Common Goldeneyes
were present on the Lake, as were some Ring-necked Ducks.
