This is New Hampshire Audubon’s Rare Bird Alert for Wednesday, August 7th, 
2013.



2 MISSISSIPPI KITES were seen from Gonet Drive in Newmarket on August 6th.



2 SANDHILL CRANES continue to be reported from fields along Route 135 in 
Monroe.



A LITTLE GULL was seen at Plaice Cove in Hampton on August 3rd and 4th. It 
was seen associating with BONAPARTE’S GULLS.



23 LEAST TERNS were seen in Hampton and North Hampton on August 4th, and at 
least 2 LEAST TERNS were seen turning near Rye Harbor on August 3rd.



Birders on a Granite State Whalewatch cruise out of Rye Harbor on August 4th 
reported a MANX SHEARWATER, 2 GREAT SHEARWATERS, and 10 WILSON’S 
STORM-PETRELS all in New Hampshire waters.



20 ROSEATE TURNS, 150 COMMON TERNS, a LAUGHING GULL, a PIPING PLOVER, and 5 
GLOSSY IBIS were seen in Hampton Harbor on August 3rd.



A WHITE-RUMPED, a PECTORAL SANDPIPER, and 50 LESSER YELLOWLEGS were seen in 
Little River Saltmarsh in North Hampton on August 4th, and a SOLITARY 
SANDPIPER and 2 RUDDY TURNSTONES were seen in Hampton Marsh on the 3rd.



2 GREAT EGRETS were seen in the swamp at the corner of Meredith Neck Road 
and Powers Road in Meredith on August 3rd.



A PEREGRINE FALCON was seen at Horseshoe Pond in Concord, and a MERLIN was 
seen in Canaan, both on August 6th. A PEREGRINE FALCON and 2 MERLINS were 
seen on the coast on August 4th.



3 PURPLE MARTINS were seen from Cross Beach Road in Seabrook, and a FISH 
CROW was reported from Seabrook, all on August 3rd.



2 NELSON'S SPARROWS were seen near Pollock Drive in Rye on August 3rd.



A BLACK-BILLED CUCKOO and an ALDER FLYCATCHER were heard vocalizing in 
Rumney on August 2nd, and an OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHER was seen in Rumney on 
the 6th.
