This is New Hampshire Audubon’s Rare Bird Alert for Tuesday, June 25th,
2013.
A MISSISSIPPI KITE was seen from Salmon Road in Newmarket on June 23rd.
A CLAY-COLORED SPARROW, 3 GRASSHOPPER SPARROWS, and an UPLAND SANDPIPER were
seen at the Pease International Tradeport on June 23rd.
A GRASSHOPPER SPARROW was reported from grassy fields located along on Route
116 in Franconia about 1.2 miles south of the Franconia airport on June
22nd.
A pair of BLACK-BACKED WOODPECKERS successfully fledged 4 chicks from a nest
located at the Trudeau Road wetlands in Bethlehem on June 19th.
6 WHIP-POOR-WILLS, a COMMON NIGHTHAWK, and 2 BLACK-BILLED CUCKOOS were
reported from the Ossipee Pine Barrens on June 19th.
A YELLOW-BILLED CUCKOO was reported from Plymouth on June 24th, and a
BLACK-BILLED CUCKOO was reported from Lyman on June 25th.
BICKNELL’S THRUSHES were reported from Mount Washington, Mount Adams, and
Cannon Mountain, all in the White Mountains during the past week
A SWAINSON’S THRUSH, a YELLOW-BELLIED FLYCATCHER, and a BLACKPOLL WARBLER
were reported from Mount Cube in Orford on June 24th.
A SWAINSON’S THRUSH was reported from near the summit of Mount Kearsarge in
Wilmot on June 21st.
At least 6 PURPLE MARTINS were seen at the Fun Spot in Laconia on June 25th.
3 AMERICAN BITTERNS were reported from Post Pond in Lyme on June 20th.
Birders on the coast reported a SURF SCOTER, 3 WHITE-WINGED SCOTERS, 25
BLACK SCOTERS, a RED-BREASTED MERGANSER, 24 COMMON LOONS, 18 GREAT EGRETS,
36 SNOWY EGRETS, a PIPING PLOVER, 18 WILLETS, 15 BONAPARTE'S GULLS, 2
LAUGHING GULLS, 10 ROSEATE TERNS, 150 COMMON TERNS, a BLACK GUILLEMOT, and 5
SALTMARSH SPARROWS on June 22nd.
