    DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES:
    3M's Electrical Markets Division is seeking a Product Development Engineer that will be located in Tilton, New Hampshire.

The Product Development Engineer will be responsible for technical contributions which include the completion of self-initiated and assigned technical activities directed toward significant impact to the business or staff organization.

Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
     * Applies innovative and advanced technical skills to provide support and services to one or more of the following: new product development, product modification, application development, product localization/converting, technology development, process development, life cycle management, technical service, manufacturing support, product support, general cost reduction, quality improvement efforts, etc. as required.
     * Provides support on products to clients and/or customers to expand opportunities and reduce risks. Analyzes and interprets results of technical work. Recommends and develops solutions for technical and product problems.
     * Utilizes knowledge of technical, product, and market information and understanding of project scope, expectations, and requirements to contribute to the development of project strategy.
     * Explores development of new technologies or products. Contributions may include successful project completion and/or commercialization, achievement of key technical milestones, factory cost reduction and/or increased customer satisfaction via technical troubleshooting or support. Applies 15% rule as appropriate to innovate.
     * Interactions:  Establishes and cultivates an extensive network of support (laboratory, manufacturing, engineering, sales and marketing) to facilitate completion of assignments.
     * Continues to build technical knowledge by participation in Tech Forum or divisional activities and through interactions with outside technical organizations such as universities, national labs, professional/technical organizations, or tradeshows.
     * Participates on and may lead teams. Interacts with customers/clients to better understand customer/client relations, customer's or client's processes, and applications.
     * Intellectual Property:  May review intellectual property positions at the business level
     * Primary product development and process support responsibilities for 3M Flexible Insulation Coated and Laminated product lines including TufQUIN, TufQUIN TFT and CeQUIN IFI.  (These products are referred to locally as Converting Room products.  3M Tilton manufacturing processes utilized for these products include Mayer Rod coating and Dry Bond adhesive laminating.)
     * Plan and lead manufacturing trials in support of Converting Room products.  Close interaction with 3M Tilton Plant Manager, Foreman and Manufacturing Teams.
     * Provide customer support related to Underwriters Laboratories (UL), including Electrical Insulation Systems and Component ratings.
     * Manage activities of one Laboratory Technician

Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status)

    REQUIRED SKILLS:
    Basic/Minimum Qualifications:
     * Bachelors degree or higher from an accredited University in Science, Engineering and/or Technology
     * Minimum 3 years of Product and/or Process Development experience

Preferred Qualifications:
     * Bachelors degree or higher in Material Science or Electrical Engineering
     * Experience with Specialty papers, non-woven materials and/or Coating Technology
     * 1+ years of experience in a Manufacturing facility
     * Experience working with Underwriters Laboratory Inc. (UL)
