Just wondering whether you've considered the possibility of having a sequence of two pages, the first one with the random image appearing for the desired length of time, the second one containing an audio recorder. . . .I don't know what LMS you use, but if it's Moodle, you may want to check out the new audio/video capture repository plugin being developed in connection to Google Summer of Code 2012: http://docs.moodle.org/dev/Audio/Video_Capture_repository_plugin.
