Greetings to all.

My former institution is trying to determine what salary range to list for a replacement "Technical Director" for the Language Center there. It is interested especially in learning what other institutions in New York, the NY tri-state area and Carnegie I research institutions across the U.S. offer to holders of similar positions. As an aside, the duties of this position are similar to what most places would call an "Administrative Director" who actually would direct and manage the day to day operations of the Center. A corollary question was whether the having this position be tenure-track faculty vs. staff would attract more applicants. (And yes, having had such a position I do know the difficulties of that!).

Due to the sensitivity of this question, I think it would be best for those who have information about this question to write to me privately. If respondents would rather give me a salary range instead of an exact figure that would be fine, too.
