Dear Colleagues,

The School of International Letters and Cultures at Arizona State
University is looking for potential collaborators to participate in an
ongoing project of cultural exploration.

"Hispanidades" aims to explore and connect different Hispanic identities
throughout the United States by focusing on 1) ethnographic research of
Hispanic barrios in different geographic regions that ranges from simple
observations of the communities studied to profound reflections on the
shared cultural, linguistic, socio-political and historical experiences
between distinct regions of the United States, 2) the use of technology to
create on online platform in which to develop research, and 3) regular
communication between students at the respective universities involved in
the project.

This project is geared towards university students enrolled in Spanish for
Bilinguals or Spanish as a Heritage Language courses. This project
launched in Fall 2011 as a collaborative effort between Arizona State
University and Columbia University, comparing and contrasting Hispanic
identities in both Arizona and New York. We are currently looking for
additional institutions to participate in this project.

Please pass this along to colleagues that might be interested.

Best and thanks,

a.
