This is New Hampshire Audubon's Rare Bird Alert for Wednesday, December
14th, 2011.
A BARNACLE GOOSE discovered in Rollinsford on December 14th, was later
relocated on the tidal portion of Fresh Creek near Gulf Road in Dover.
A female WESTERN TANAGER has been seen visiting a birdfeeder at a private
residence in Campton but the residents prefer not to have visitors at this
time.
A CLAY-COLORED SPARROW was seen at a private residence in Rochester on
December 5th through the 9th, and a FIELD SPARROW was seen there on the 9th.
A DOVEKIE was seen at Plaice Cove in Hampton on December 8th, and 2
RAZORBILLS were seen at the entrance to Hampton Harbor on the 11th.
2 adult male BARROW'S GOLDENEYES, one at Rye Ledge, and 1 at Bicentennial
Park in Hampton, were seen on the coast on December 9th.
A male BARROW'S GOLDENEYE was reported from Eel Pond in Rye on December
11th, and 8 AMERICAN COOT, 6 LESSER SCAUP, a RING-NECKED DUCK, and a
PIED-BILLED GREBE were seen here on the 9th.
There was an unconfirmed report of a CACKLING GOOSE on Eel Pond in Rye on
December 11th.
A LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL was seen near Glass Street in Suncook on one of
the buildings near the Suncook River on December 13th.
A GLAUCOUS GULL, seen several times since late October, was again seen on
the Seabrook side of Hampton Harbor, and an ICELAND GULL was seen in the
fields adjacent to Bodwell Farm in Kensington, all on December 9th.
2 adult BLACK-LEGGED KITTIWAKES were seen around the entrance to Hampton
Harbor on December 9th.
2 GADWALLS, and a NORTHERN PINTAIL were seen at the Exeter Wastewater
Treatment Plant on December 10th.
2 NORTHERN PINTAILS were seen on Dorrs Pond in Manchester on December 14th.
120 AMERICAN COOT and a PIED-BILLED GREBE were seen on Powwow Pond in
Kingston on December 9th.
A PIED-BILLED GREBE was seen at Improved Machinery Pond, located off Burke
Street in Nashua, on December 10th.
75 SANDERLINGS were seen on Seabrook Beach on December 9th.
2 COMMON REDPOLLS and a COMMON YELLOWTHROAT were reported from Westmoreland
on December 10th.
2 WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILLS were reported from Penacook on December 11th.
2 GRAY JAYS were seen on Mount Willey in Crawford Notch on December 9th.
A PEREGRINE FALCON was seen in Newington on December 13th, and one was seen
in Concord on the 14th.
There have been several reports of WINTER WRENS, CAROLINA WRENS, HERMIT
THRUSHES, RED-BELLIED WOODPECKERS, and NORTHERN FLICKERS during the past
week.
