Dear Colleagues,

I'm pleased to announce the Southwest Association for Language Learning and Technology (SWALLT) conference, to be held at Arizona State University in sunny Tempe on March 23 and 24, 2012. Join us to explore the implications that globalization and internationalization have for the fields of language learning and teaching, language center administration, instructional technology and applied linguistics.

SWALLT 2012: Language Learning Centers and Internationalization: Supporting Global Connections

Universities, community colleges and other institutions are emphasizing connections with the broader world, establishing campuses and programs across the globe, and welcoming international partners and students to their institutions and curricula. For faculty, administrators, and language learning center personnel tasked with implementing these goals, questions abound regarding how best to use technology to support global outreach, study abroad programs, faculty engaged in international collaboration, student exchanges, remote campuses and courses, and distance learning.

Join us at Arizona State University's School of International Letters & Cultures for SWALLT 2012, a regional IALLT conference open to language technologists, faculty members and administrators at the university and community college levels, K-12 teachers and administrators, the international education community and graduate students.

The organizers welcome proposals for presentations within the following topic areas as they relate to the globalization and internationalization of institutions and curricula:

Presentation of original research - action research, CALL, SLA with a technology emphasis, ESL/EFL, etc. (30 min.)
Presentation of technologies, processes, and approaches to international collaboration and outreach. (30 min.)
Presentation of language learning center management, outreach, programs, etc. (30 min.)
Panel discussion on any of the above topics (maximum of three respondents). (45 min.)
Presentation by commercial entity (vendor, sponsor, etc.) (30 min.)
Workshop including Q&A, hands-on practice, etc. (2 hours)

Please submit session abstracts at http://silc-lss-dev.asu.edu/conf/?q=node/9 . Questions? Contact the conference organizer at [log in to unmask]

The conference registration site will be open soon — we're looking forward to seeing you in Arizona this spring!
