Subject: #9733 Infrared (IR) remote extenders; IP based?

Curious if anyone has any recommendations for extending IR control across the Internet. I.e., point a clicker at a receiver; it converts the signal to something that outputs to ethernet and that runs across IP; on the far side, it would go from ethernet to a 'light' that controls the IR receiver (we've done this in the past over coax for remote VCR control).

I've seen some devices that use (dedicated) ethernet cabling to extend a signal, but that are not IP based. We need to get from one subnet to another. I'm pretty sure there are such devices, but I'm getting a rather large number of web search hits. Thanks.
