SPECIAL ISSUE 2013: 

EMPIRICAL PERSPECTIVES ON THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE COMMON EUROPEAN
FRAMEWORK OF REFERENCE AND THE EUROPEAN LANGUAGE PORTFOLIO



CALL FOR PAPERS



The Canadian Modern Language Review (CMLR) invites manuscripts to be
considered for a special issue to appear in November 2013 focused on
research related to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages
(CEFR) and the European Language Portfolio (ELP). To date most of the
published research has focused on the European context; however, there is
increasing interest in implementing the CEFR and the ELP in other contexts,
including Canada. In Europe, theoretical work, case-studies and anecdotal
reports suggest that the CEFR is a useful descriptive scheme for analyzing
second language learner needs, goals, materials and outcomes and for
orienting L2 assessment. Its companion piece, the ELP, has been widely
implemented, although mostly on a small scale. For this special issue we
seek a broad range of contributions from researchers who report on empirical
findings from studies of the CEFR and ELP in relation to issues such as
proficiency testing, language policy, L2 teacher preparation, development of
teaching/learning resources, curriculum design, implementation and
assessment. We also seek research reports that document and evaluate
pedagogical innovations based on the CEFR and/or the ELP for the "Focus on
the Classroom" section of the special issue. The editors welcome articles in
English or French.



Submitted articles will be subject to the normal peer review process of the

APPEL D’ARTICLES



La Revue canadienne des langues vivantes (RCLV) invite les chercheurs à
proposer des articles en vue d’un numéro spécial à paraître en 2013 et
portant sur le Cadre européen commun de référence (CECR) pour les langues et
le Portfolio européen des langues (PEL). À ce jour, la plupart des
recherches publiées sur ce sujet concernent le contexte européen; il existe
cependant un intérêt de plus en plus marqué pour la mise en œuvre du CECR et
du PEL dans d’autres contextes, au Canada notamment. En Europe, des
recherches théoriques, des études de cas et des observations empiriques
suggèrent que le CECR constitue un modèle descriptif d’une grande utilité
dans l’analyse des besoins, des buts, des ressources et des résultats des
apprenants en langue seconde et dans l’orientation de l’évaluation de la L2.
Le document qui le complète, le PEL, a déjà été implanté en de nombreux
endroits, quoique la plupart du temps à une échelle réduite. Pour ce numéro
spécial de la RCLV, nous sommes à la recherche de contributions diversifiées
de la part de chercheurs qui travaillent sur les aspects empiriques du CECR
et du PEL à l’égard d’enjeux comme l’évaluation de la maîtrise de la L2, les
politiques linguistiques, la formation des enseignants de L2, le
développement de ressources pour l’enseignement et l’apprentissage, la
conception des programmes de cours, leur mise en œuvre et leur évaluation.
Nous accueillerons aussi, dans la section « Pleins feux sur la classe », des
travaux qui analysent et évaluent les innovations pédagogiques liées au CECR
ou au PEL. Les articles peuvent être rédigés en anglais ou en français. 



Les textes proposés subiront le processus habituel de révision par des pairs
adopté par la RCLV. Veuillez prendre connaissance des recommandations aux
auteurs en ce qui concerne la longueur des articles, le mandat de la revue
et les différents aspects de la présentation d’un manuscrit en consultant

Review/La Revue canadienne des langues vivantes has evolved from an
Ontario-centered journal containing mainly classroom-based teaching
strategies and resources to a Canada-wide, bilingual, refereed scholarly
publication of national scope and international repute. The CMLR/RCLV serves
members of the teaching profession, administrators and researchers
interested in all levels of English and French as second languages and, in
addition, those interested in native and other modern, international, or
heritage language programs and issues.
