After a hiatus of 25 days a bear has made another attempt on our feeders.
We have been taking them ( the feeders) in before darkness settles in each
day. At 7:45 PM this evening we observed a black bear pulling at a feeder.
Accompanying was a cub that stood only about 12" high, with spindly
extremities. It was sitting watching mother at work, but as mother ran
away, the little one followed at warp speed, or better. It would seem that
there is not much natural food and that they were very hungry.
