I was shocked to see a FOY multi-colored, fire-breathing hot air balloon
this morning. It drifted from Quechee and landed at the Lebanon Airport. I
have duly noted it on my yard, Windsor County, Vermont, NH, and
tongue-in-cheek lists.

But, I also heard a yellow-bellied sapsucker drumming with very long pauses
on this chilly morning. It then started to call. A great way to start the
day.

Someone mentioned on the bird walk last weekend that he/she has a book for
blind birders which I think includes recordings. That certainly gives new
meaning to birding as opposed to bird watching. It must be a wonderful
experience.
