This storm brought me an amazing bird. I am just so excited. I always keep a
hummingbird feeder out beginning in March with a little bird bath heater in
it to keep it thawed. I never get anything at it until May, but just in case
some crazy wayward hummer comes around early or is lost, I am ready. Well,
with this crazy late nor'easter I was watching my feeders outside with all
the redpolls on it when suddenly out of the misty snow I saw something buzz
down and land on my hummingbird feeder! I couldn't believe my eyes! I ran
and got my camera only to take a terrible photo through the window. Check it
out on the VTeBird flickr pool:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/vtebird/5579430057/in/pool-929116@N20/ . It of
course got flagged when I entered it in eBird as this has to be the earliest
record ever for a hummingbird here. You just never know what you might see
bird watching.
Hope you all enjoy this first day of April.
Good birding.
