Hi one and all

I'm noodling around with hardware and I'm wondering about the
advantages of the rather expensive "solid state drives" offered by
Apple.

Would they significantly speed up stuff? I have a 7200 drive in my
MacBook, and it seems to me it speeds up stuff compared with the 5400
drive it had. Also being solid state, I'm thinking that should mean
that basically it should be pretty much unbreakable. Today's HDs are
pretty rugged, but ...

Does anyone have an experience?

And what about disadvantages?

Cheers, Geoff
