This is New Hampshire Audubon's Rare Bird Alert for Wednesday, June 2nd, 
2010.



A MISSISSIPPI KITE was seen flying in Newmarket on May 29th, and another 
MISSISSIPPI KITE was reported from Colebrook on May 28th. Two pairs of 
MISSISSIPPI KITES nested in Newmarket last year.



A pair of SANDHILL CRANES was reported flying over Mountain Road in 
Salisbury on May 31st.



A LITTLE GULL was seen off of Great Boar's Head in Hampton on May 28th.



2 NORTHERN FULMARS, 3 SOOTY SHEARWATERS, 5 RED-NECKED PHALAROPES, and an 
estimated 500 WILSON'S STORM-PETRELS were seen in coastal waters on a boat 
cruise out of Rye on May 31st.



2 ROSEATE TERNS were reported from Pulpit Rocks in Rye on May 30th, and 2 
LEAST TERNS were seen off of Seabrook Beach on May 29th.



3,500 COMMON TERNS, 30 ROSEATE TERNS and 6 ARCTIC TERNS are nesting at the 
tern colony on the Isles of Shoals, located off the coast from Portsmouth 
and Rye.



An UPLAND SANDPIPER was heard at the Pease International Tradeport on May 
30th.



A CERULEAN WARBLER was heard at Pawtuckaway State Park in Nottingham on May 
30th. Ambitious birders also tallied 57 AMERICAN REDSTARTS, 38 RED-EYED 
VIREOS, 27 OVENBIRDS, and 22 VEERYS.



A LAWRENCE'S WARBLER, a hybrid between a BLUE-WINGED and a GOLDEN-WINGED 
WARBLER, was reported from the Lamprey River Preserve on Packers

Falls Road in Durham on May 28th.



A BREWSTER'S WARBLER, a hybrid between a BLUE-WINGED and a GOLDEN-WINGED 
WARBLER, was reported from Hudson just off Dracut Road, at the power lines 
between Groves Farm and Brookfield Roads on June 2nd. Another BREWSTER'S 
WARBLER was seen near Newfields Road in Exeter on May 29th.



2 GRASSHOPPER SPARROWS were reported from McIntyre Road in Newington on May 
30th.



3 PIPING PLOVERS were seen at Hampton Beach State Park, and a pair was seen 
on Seabrook Beach, all on May 28th.



2 RED KNOTS were seen in Hampton Harbor on June 2nd.



5 SEMIPALMATED PLOVERS were seen on a sandbar in the Saco River in East 
Conway near the Maine border on May 31st.



3 RUDDY DUCKS were seen at the Derry Wastewater Treatment Plant on June 1st. 
The treatment plant is closed Sunday and Monday and if you visit, please 
check in at the office.



6 PURPLE MARTINS were seen along Route 302 in East Conway near the Maine 
border on May 30th.



2 ORCHARD ORIOLES were seen at Odiorne Point State Park in Rye on May 29th, 
2 were reported from the north end of Packers Falls Road in Durham on May 
28th, one was reported from the Deer Hill Wildlife Management Area in 
Brentwood on the 27th, and one was reported from Silver Lake in Madison, 
also on the 27th.



A FISH CROW was reported from Berry Bay in Freedom on May 31st, and 2 were 
seen at North Beach in Hampton on May 29th.



A CAPE MAY WARBLER, a BAY-BREASTED WARBLER, and a YELLOW-BELLIED FLYCATCHER 
were all seen on Peaked Hill Road in Chatham on May 30th.



A PHILADELPHIA VIREO and 2 MOURNING WARBLERS were reported from North 
Hampton on May 29th.



6 OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHERS, 6 NORTHERN WATERTHRUSHES, 5 CANADA WARBLERS, and 
3 NORTHERN PARULAS were reported from Huntress Bridge Road in NH Audubon's 
Watt's Sanctuary in Effingham on May 29th.



Several MARSH WRENS, 6 ALDER FLYCATCHERS, 3 YELLOW-BELLIED FLYCATCHERS, an 
OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHER, and 10 CANADA WARBLERS were reported from the 
Pondicherry National Wildlife Refuge in Jefferson on May 31st. A 
BLACK-BILLED CUCKOO was reported from here on May 30th.



A BLACK-BACKED WOODPECKER nest can be seen from the viewing platform at the 
end of the trail out to Little Cherry Pond in the Pondicherry National 
Wildlife Refuge in Jefferson. The nest is located in a dead black spruce 
about 400 feet across the water to the southwest. A spotting scope is 
recommended. A LINCOLN'S SPARROW, and a PALM WARBLER were seen here on May 
30th.



A BLACK-BACKED WOODPECKER, 2 YELLOW-BELLIED FLYCATCHERS, 3 PHILADELPHIA 
VIREOS, 11 GRAY JAYS, 2 BOREAL CHICKADEES, 4 BLACKPOLL WARBLERS, 6 
BAY-BREASTED WARBLERS, and 7 WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILLS were reported from 
Scott's Bog Road and East Inlet Road in Pittsburg on May 27th.



12 YELLOW-BELLIED FLYCATCHERS, 4 BOREAL CHICKADEES, 2 PALM WARBLERS, 2 
BAY-BREASTED WARBLERS, 4 MOURNING WARBLERS, 3 LINCOLN'S SPARROWS, and 6 
RUSTY BLACKBIRDS were reported from South Bay Bog in Pittsburg on May 28th.



3 AMERICAN BITTERNS were seen in Danbury Bog on May 30th.
