I've been doing this for years and all of a sudden...

set foo to choose folder --> "HardDisk:foldername:otherfoldername:"
set bar to list folder foo
set oneFile to item 2 of bar --> "somefile.txt
set newName to foo & oneFile as string -->  
"HardDisk:foldername:otherfoldername:#somefile.txt"

Where did the (expletive deleted) pound sign come from?
