From the side the mountain looks like a face - we'll be climbing up the nose and
chin. It'll probably be snowy up top, so we'll bring along some crampons and
gaiters, and any other gear you might need can be supplied. Happiness,
frivolity, snowball fights, and general merriment will be had by all.

many types of outdoor recreation.

NEXT WEEKEND NEXT WEEKEND NEXT WEEKEND

Backpack the Carter Ridge!
Cost: $12
When: Saturday morning into Sunday evening
Blitz: Kevin Miller or Jeremy Brouillet for more info, 'opo' to sign up
Difficulty: Strenuous
Description: The term has just started! The weather is fabulous! Come
backpacking in the Carters! Carter ridge is a beautiful little ridge in the
northeastern part of the White Mountains (just beyond the reach of Freshman
Trips). There are no less than six big peaks, lots of gorgeous scenery, and
plenty of good times to be had! Any and all gear you might need can be provided
(just ask).
We'll drive up Saturday morning, then hike eight miles up onto the ridge and
stay at a shelter. From there we'll hike eleven or so miles along the ridge and
out again.
The distances may be on the short side, but this is not a trip for the faint of
heart. There will be ice. There will be slush. Parts will be steep. It might
be cold, especially at night. But for those hearty souls who do venture out,
joy, frivolity, epicness, adventure, good times, and a sense of deep personal
satisfaction are guaranteed. Blitz if you have any questions.
