Digitizing a clip (a scene) for this purpose is fair use, I would think, though
it should be kept on a lab server or in a password-protected website. However,
it is still at this point not legal to circumvent anti-copying encryption on a
DVD (unless you are a film prof.). If you have a VHS copy to work from that
would circumvent the circumvention issue, though.
