At VCU, we used to carry an array of international channels through DISH
Network, which we made available on our closed-cable campus network. We
purchased TV cards for the student computers with an rf input for the
cable signal and used the WinTV program for viewing the channels. This was
a dream system for running live int'l programming in our labs, but
unfortunately, we had to drop DISH due to recent budgetary cutbacks.

However, with up-to-the-minute international news and entertainment being
streamed and archived on-line from media outlets all over the world, we
have not missed the satellite service as much as we thought we would.
