Job Opening: Academic Technology Consultant, Center for Instructional
Technology

The Center for Instructional Technology at Duke University Libraries
(http://cit.duke.edu/) supports the academic mission of Duke University by
helping instructors find innovative ways to use technology to achieve their
teaching goals. Drawing on expertise in both technology and pedagogy, CIT
assists instructors with projects, shares information across the university
about effective practices, and examines the effect of technology on teaching and
learning. CIT systematically monitors and evaluates the impact and effectiveness
of instructional technologies on the teaching and learning experiences of
faculty and students and shares these findings with the campus community.
CIT is searching for an Academic Technology Consultant who will provide
technical and pedagogical consulting, training, and project support to help
faculty and staff effectively integrate electronic tools and materials into
their teaching. The Academic Technology Consultant (ATC) consults with faculty
on technologies for their teaching needs. The ATC also plans and runs workshops
and information sessions, keeps current on instructional technology trends and
local developments, manages pilots of new instructional technologies on campus,
and collaborates with other faculty support persons on campus to create a
streamlined environment for faculty teaching.
The ATC will be the prime CIT point of contact for faculty in Duke's language
programs but will work broadly on projects with faculty from other disciplines
as well.

Applicants should have experience identifying and integrating technological
solutions to pedagogical needs; experience in instructional technology support;
and knowledge of widely-used hardware, software, applications, resources, and
techniques within an academic environment. Experience with or motivation to
learn about multilingual computing, foreign languages and culture, and/or
experience with second language learning is highly desirable.
