*STUDY FRENCH AND MULTIMEDIA JOURNALISM IN PERPIGNAN, FRANCE THIS SUMMER*

We still have a few openings for the summer multimedia program in Perpignan,
France co-sponsored by San Francisco State University and the Institute for
Education in International Media. The applications can be found on the
ieiMedia Web site (http://www.ieimedia.com).

The program is open to English-speaking college students and recent
graduates from around the world.

   - *Dates:* June 24-July 23, 2010
   - *Site:* Perpignan lies in the Languedoc region of southwestern France,
   8 miles west of the Mediterranean Sea and 19 miles north of the Spanish
   border, within sight of the Pyrenees. The city features a charming,
   pedestrian-friendly historic quarter; a daily market; and lively nightlife.
   Many attractions in France and Spain are only a short train ride away.
   - *Housing: *Students will share studios in a modern apartment-hotel

   - *French instruction**:* Students will get 30 hours of French
   instruction at the Academie de Langues France Mediterranee
(ALFMED<http://alfmed.com/>)
   language school in the heart of the old city. Students will be divided into
   two classes -- beginner and intermediate.
   - *Multimedia curriculum: *Students will study various aspects of
   multimedia with a particular emphasis on video storytelling. They will
   report on the community with the help of interpreters and will produce a
   multimedia Web site about the city.
   - *Credit*: Students will earn 3 transferable units of upper-division
   undergraduate credit (JOUR 677 Multimedia Study Abroad) through the San
   Francisco State University College of Extended Learning.
   - *Travel: *Students will have two weekends free for independent travel
   - *Program cost: *$4,900 USD plus airfare. Cost includes academic credit,
   housing, transportation to/from Barcelona airport, equipment, travel
   insurance, French culture activities
