You may or may not have heard that there's a Wilderness First Responder course
offered as a P.E. this term. If you didn't hear, there's a Wilderness First Responder
course offered as a P.E. this term.

Short version: its a really useful certification, the classes are fun, they need
a few more people to sign up to make it happen. Its also the cheapest WFR you'll
ever find. Ever. Sign up on Bannerstudent under the PE section of add-drop

Long version: Do WFR training. Why? Because I said so.

If that's a good enough reason for you, then cook me dinner and tune my snowboard
after you sign up.

If that's not a good enough reason, try these:

1) Its an incredibly useful certification. The WFR training is what would have
happened if EMT teachers and MacGyver got together and came up with a course.
You learn to deal with a whole slew scenarios and injuries, and its geared towards
accidents that happen in the woods (note the Wilderness part of the title). Also,
you need it for most jobs in the outdoor/education field. NOLS, Wilderness Ventures,
and Outward Bound all require you to be a WFR. Also, it qualifies you for a lot
of search and rescue jobs. Which is sick.

2) Its cheap. The class costs $250, which is about between 1/3 and 1/4 of what
the ususally cost. So if you think you might want to do it at some point, do
it now.

3) Its taught by SOLO (Stonehearth Outdoor Learning Opportunities), the group
that created the curriculum. I did my WFR with these guys, and so did a bunch
of other DOCers. They're good teachers.

So, yeah. Sign up. Blitz me if you have any questions.
