Hello,
I was at Perkins Pond in Sunapee yesterday and today and saw a pretty large
bird. I know it was a hawk or eagel-like bird but each time I saw it, I was
swimming and didn't have my binoculars or camera. Today was pretty
awesome because we got to see it dive out of the sky and splash in the water
to grab something so I know it is a fish eater. The bird had a wide wing span
and it had white and black feathers, more black than white but the bellie
seemed lighter. The beak was very light colored and and pronounced. I noticed
the beak first. The wings were more narrow than the eagles I have seen lately
and I don't think there were finger feathers on the tips of the wings. This was
a beautiful bird and watching it dive was awesome. I suppose it could have
been an immature bald eagle but I still think it was more hawk-like. Any
thoughts?
I also saw a loon but it disappeared by the time I got my camera.
Thank you
Anne
