Modern Languages, Literatures, and Cultures: Language
Learning Center Coordinator/Spanish Instructor

Gustavus Adolphus College invites applications for a full-time,  
renewable nine-month contract, non-
tenure track position of Culpeper Language Learning Center Instructor  
for the Department of Modern
Languages, Literatures, and Cultures, to begin September 1, 2009.

We seek candidates who have an M.A. in Spanish or a related field and  
experience in language
instruction, and should be professionally active in the field of  
Computer Aided Language Learning, as
well as have training and expertise in the use of technology for  
language instruction.

Primary responsibilities include three sections of Spanish per year  
and support of a Macintosh-based 22-
student language learning-instruction center used by students in the  
five languages taught within the
department: French, German, Japanese, Russian, and Spanish. Support  
duties may include:
* Hiring, training, and supervising Culpeper Language Learning Center  
student lab assistants;
* Resolving computer related issues in the Center;
* The development of educational technology solutions for faculty and  
students of foreign
languages;
* Conducting workshops for faculty to assist in the incorporation of  
technological resources into
their coursework;
* Providing support for faculty and students with technology:
- in the development of educational materials;
- preparing E-Portfolios for the major;
- supporting and leading various departmental digital video and audio  
projects, such as Tierra
Adentro;
* Updating and maintaining websites for the departments of Modern  
Languages Literatures and
Cultures, English, and Scandinavian Studies;
- supporting the use of Moodle;
- researching and recommending emergent technologies or resources in  
the academic and
commercial marketplace.
