Sorry, please ignore that last answer. I didn't read this part carefully enough:
 
"Most use Firefox on both PCs and Macs and would like to
be able to take advantage of features that the plugins don't offer
(slowing the speed, selecting a phrase at a time, etc.)."

If they indeed want those  features, they'll probably have to download the files
to their home computers -- and then open them with the media player of their
choice.
