Today on Route 4 heading east in Canaan just prior to Potato Rd. A pair of Canada Geese in a small flooded field.
At Shaker Bridge west side in Enfield on Mascoma Lake 2 pair of common Mergansers. Open area is not very large yet.
At George Pond my first sighting of a Great Blue Heron this spring. Thought I saw one in flight last week but I was driving alone and didn't have time to stop and it was flying away from me. I also had a new pair of sun glasses on that made the bird look brown.
In my side yard when we got home a N. Flicker feeding. We usually see them in the yard in the fall but not always in the spring. The other sunny day I noted ground bees flying on my south side of the house. Hope to see an E. Phoebe soon, that would also make my day. Also 2 Pine Siskins still at the feeder.
